Frequently Asked Questions

Pyromusical fireworks, answered.

Common questions about musical fireworks displays: what a pyromusical is, the difference from a normal fireworks display, cost in the UK, how fireworks are choreographed to music, safety, planning, and more.

General

A pyromusical is a firework display that is precisely choreographed and synchronised to music using specialist computer firing systems. Every shell, mine, and effect is timed to the beat, creating a seamless fusion of light, colour, and sound that transforms fireworks into a theatrical performance.

A traditional fireworks display is manually fired with effects chosen for visual impact alone. A pyromusical uses computer-controlled electronic firing to synchronise every single firework to a pre-selected music track, down to fractions of a second. The result is a far more immersive and emotional experience.

We are based in Berkshire and cover the whole of the UK. We regularly perform pyromusical displays across the South East, London, the Home Counties, the Midlands, and beyond. Travel is included in our quotations.

They mean the same thing. "Fireworks to music", "musical fireworks", "fireworks with music", "fireworks set to music" and "fireworks choreographed to music" all describe a pyromusical: a firework display where every effect is electronically fired in precise synchronisation with a pre-edited music track. Pyromusical is simply the industry term for it.

Sonning Fireworks is based in Berkshire and performs private pyromusical fireworks displays across the United Kingdom, including London, the Home Counties (Surrey, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire), Sussex, Kent, the Midlands, the North, Scotland, and Wales. Our pyromusicals are private events for specific clients rather than public shows, but you can browse our gallery to see examples of past displays.

Professional pyromusical companies use specialised choreography software combined with electronic firing systems. The software lets us place every individual firework effect on a precise timeline relative to the music waveform, accurate to fractions of a second. On the night, the firing system reads that timeline and fires each cue automatically, exactly when the music calls for it.

Weddings

Weddings are one of our most popular services. We create bespoke wedding pyromusicals choreographed to your chosen music, whether that's your first dance song, a romantic ballad, or an upbeat celebration track. We coordinate with your wedding planner and venue to ensure everything runs perfectly.

Yes, we can provide indoor pyrotechnic effects including sparkle fountains, flame effects, and confetti cannons. These are perfect for creating dramatic entrances, first dances, or cake-cutting moments. All indoor effects are specifically designed and certified for indoor use.

Yes. First-dance pyromusicals are one of our most requested wedding services. We choreograph the fireworks to your first dance track (or a hand-edited version of it) so that the display peaks at the most emotional moments of the song. Many couples have their first dance outdoors and step out as the pyromusical begins.

Planning

Absolutely! Your music choice is at the heart of every pyromusical we create. You can choose a single track, a medley of your favourite songs, or even a custom arrangement. We'll work with you to select music that perfectly suits the mood and style of your event.

Most of our pyromusical displays last between 5 and 15 minutes. The ideal length depends on your venue, budget, and the atmosphere you want to create. Even a 5-minute display choreographed to music delivers an incredible impact.

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for popular dates like wedding season (May to September), Bonfire Night, and New Year's Eve. For weddings, 6 to 12 months advance booking is ideal. However, we can sometimes accommodate shorter timescales. Just ask.

Safety

Yes, we take care of everything. This includes a thorough site risk assessment, liaison with local authorities if required, appropriate safety distances, and full public liability insurance. Your guests' safety is our top priority, and all our displays are conducted by fully trained, licensed pyrotechnicians.

We can perform pyromusical displays at most outdoor venues, subject to a site assessment. We check for adequate safety distances, local restrictions, and any potential issues. Many popular wedding and event venues across the UK already welcome fireworks, and we'll confirm suitability during our consultation.

Yes! We offer low-noise pyromusical options that are ideal for venues near residential areas, events with young children, or where animals may be nearby. Low-noise displays focus on beautiful visual effects like comets, brocades, and waterfalls rather than loud bangs and reports.
